You are metered on project quota: the kW of panels you design, plus half the kWh of any battery. A 20 kWh battery uses 10 kW of quota. Each project comes with two sub-projects at the same address, so you can price three versions and only the highest counts.
In Solar Proof, you are metered on project quota. In simple terms, we keep track of how many kW of solar panels you use, and how many kWh of battery you include in projects, to ensure the plan you are on suits your needs.
Depending on your plan, you will have a monthly quota allowance. E.g. Pro Tier 1 plans have a quota of 1.2MW/month. This means you can do 1.2MW of projects each month without needing more quota.
Batteries count at 50% of their kWh value towards your quota. So a 10kWh battery only uses 5kW of quota. This means you get more value from battery projects!
Copied projects will only count towards quota if you do more than 3 projects. E.g. If you do 4 projects (6kW, 6kW, 5kW, 9kW), you will be metered for (9+6)kW of usage (the 2 highest projects).

Each project now comes with 2 "sub-projects" with the same address. So you can create 3 versions and only be metered for the highest kW project!
Yes, projects which you delete are still projects and are included in metering.
If you run out of quota you can either: a) purchase a top-up for $45/100kW or b) upgrade your account.
Yes. We have a minimum quota count of 2.5kW per project. This is in the interests of fair use.
For the above example, you are only metered for the highest project (in this case 30kW)
For the above example, you are metered for the 2 highest projects (each project quota use now allows 2x sub-projects) - In this example you are metered for 12 + 10 = 22kW
For the above example, you are metered for the highest solar and the highest battery. The battery counts at 50%, so: 20kW solar + (10kWh × 50%) = 25kW total
The battery is counted at 50%: 6.6kW solar + (20kWh × 50%) = 6.6 + 10 = 16.6kW total quota used
For the above example, since there are 7 projects with the same address, you will be metered for the top 3 solar projects and the top 3 battery projects:
Quota calculation: 100kW solar + (200kWh × 50%) = 100 + 100 = 200kW total quota used
Without the 50% battery discount, this would have been 300kW of quota.

At $4 a project, Pro from $99 a month pays for itself at about 25 projects a month. Past that, every project within your tier's quota is covered.
Add up the kW you design in a typical month. Under 300 kW is Mini; most residential and light commercial businesses sit on Tier 1 (1.2 MW). If you are not sure, start on Tier 1 - you can move up or down from your account page.
