In Solar Proof, you are metered on project quota. In simple terms, we keep track of how many kW of solar panels you use, how many kWh of battery projects you use to ensure the plan you are on suits your needs.
FAQs
How much quota I have?
Depending on your plan, you will have a monthly quota allowance. E.g. Pro Tier 1 plans have a quota of 1.2MW/month. This means you can do 1.2MW of projects each month without needing more quota.
What about battery projects?
Battery projects are metered separately. So you could, for example, use 600kW of solar and 600kWh of battery to reach the Pro Tier 1 limit of 1.2MW in the month.
What if I copy a project?
Copied projects will only count towards quota if you do more than 3 projects. E.g. If you do 4 projects (6kW, 6kW, 5kW, 9kW), you will be metered for (9+6)kW of usage (the 2 highest projects).
Do draft projects count?
Yes, when you start a project this counts as usage.
Do copied projects count?
Each project now comes with 2 "sub-projects" with the same address. So you can create 3 versions and only be metered for the highest kW project!
Do deleted projects count?
Yes, projects which you delete are still projects and are included in metering.
What if I run out of quota?
If you run out of quota you can either: a) purchase a top-up for $25/100kW or b) upgrade your account.
Is there a minimum quota amount
Yes. We have a minimum quota count of 2.5kW per project. This is in the interests of fair use.
Examples
Example 1: Solar Projects With The Same Address
- Project 1: 20kW Solar only
- Project 2: 30kW Solar only
- Project 3: 22kW Solar only
For the above example, you are only metered for the highest project (in this case 30kW)
Example 2: Solar Projects With The Same Address
- Project 1: 5kW Solar only
- Project 2: 10kW Solar only
- Project 3: 12kW Solar only
- Project 4: 6.6kW Solar only
- Project 5: 6.6kW Solar only
For the above example, you are metered for the 2 highest projects (each project quota use now allows 2x sub-projects) - In this example you are metered for 12 + 10 = 22kW
Example 3: Solar + Battery Projects With The Same Address
- Project 1: 25kW Solar only
- Project 2: 20kW Solar with 10kWh battery
For the above example, you are metered for the highest solar and the highest battery (in this case 25 + 10 = 35kW)
Example 4: Combination Projects With The Same Address
- Project 1: 25kW Solar only
- Project 2: 20kW Solar with 10kWh battery
- Project 3: 20kW Solar with 20kWh battery
- Project 4: 20kWh battery-only
- Project 5: 40kW Solar with 10kWh battery
- Project 6: 10kW Solar with 10kWh battery
- Project 7: 10kW Solar with 20kWh battery
For the above example, since there are 7 projects with the same address, you will be metered for the top 3 solar projects and the top 3 battery projects. Here it will be (40 + 25 + 20)kW solar + (20 + 20 + 20)kWh battery. A total of 145kW.
